This early recording by Queen in early 1973 is fascinating to listen to, it showcases their unbelievable talent before anybody knew them. Anyone who heard this performance at the time must have been excited by what they were hearing, brians hard edged, jimmy page-esque guitar sound and fantastic high-pitched vocals by freddie. Queen were heavily criticised for trying to be Led Zeppelin, i wonder, what on earth is so bad about that? Who better to have as a hard rock influence than the genius of Zeppelin.Tracks on this album are mostly from the first album, but have a looser feel to them with a few silly ad-libs. Son and Daughter sounds fantastic with brian adding a guitar solo which is very similar to the one in 'brighton rock'. Liar and Ogre Battle are also very rocky with the band sounding very tight. The song which stands out on the album i feel is 'My fairy king'. It sounds much better than the actual album version with the instruments sounding much clearer, particularly brians guitar. This live recording is a must for any Queen fans to have in their collection, it is an interesting alternative to the first Queen album.
